I can't sleep! I'm used to working two jobs and going to school. I was constantly working and very sleep deprived. I no longer have to work two jobs and have been done with school for some time. I have all of this excess energy and I can't sleep! I'm going nutz!

Just to give you an idea, I probably work more than a 40 hour week sometimes six days a week....still not enough!

Learning Japanese

Believe it or not, I am learning Japanese. Not just for kink, but for professional purposes primarily. Unfortunately, the research that I'd like to do deals with literature prior to WWII. Which sucks because the characters used are different, which means I'm going to have to also learn kanji among other things. I start formal instruction in the winter around January. I am hiring a private tutor.

Right now I am using books and language programs. I am taking two approaches: the memorize as many factoids as I can. From this method, I have learned to speak read and write the following: modern numbers 1-10, days of the week, months of the calendar year.

I am also taking a phonetic approach where I am learning all the basic sounds/syllabaries, from my understanding there are 46 basic sounds (lets say the alphabet). So what's happening is I am, for a lack of a better word, learning katakana to learn how to spell sound out the words. So when I see the characters for the syllabaries I will be able to sound out the words. Its kinda like learning how to spell them. Unfortunately if I learn how to do that, that doesn't mean I know the word meaning, I just can sound the word out. In order to understand the words, I also have to learn the characters. I guess the best way to explain it is that, just because I can pronounce and spell the word, doesn't mean I know what the word or idea means.

My goal is to be able to have a very rudimentary conversation, count monies, ask for directions and read signs by June. Wish me luck!

Amorphous

When I exhale into space
the words I cannot erase.
Into the aether they go
far away to the unknown.

White noise like lightning flash
followed by a thunderous crash.
Quelled by an empty space
The din tamed by nature’s grace

I hold an audience with the sky
I demand from it what is mine.
It gives me something in return.
It gives me something I can’t discern.

Faster than the speed of sound
ubiquitous it does surround.
Nebulous I understand
nothing I am just a man.

Are pursuits to me so meaningless?
Do I understand the meaning less?
Amorphous though the answer seems
when I exhale it seems so close to me.

And these words I can’t erase.
They are projected into space.
Into the aether they go
far away I do not know.

I see them so vividly
so bright they are blinding
They do have meaning to me
I wish the sky would answer me!

<lj-embed id="3" />

What would pornographers dream of?

Suzanne Vega's song "Pornographer's Dream" has me wondering about what pornographers dream of? How would people who produce what is called pornography look at women? Would they look at woman as objects or am I just stereotyping? Would they idolize them in such a way some people idolize The Madonna?"

Would they have tea and talk ethics? Take a walk in a garden filled with lilies? Go to a jazz club and eat angel hair pasta with scampi by candle light?

Never the less, makes me wonder since I have an increasing interest in photographing the women I tie and having the images published... here are the lyrics to the song and I have posted the video below. I will leave you to it :)

she's a pornographer's dream, he said.
I knew what he meant.
but it made me imagine: what kind of a dream
he would have, that hadn't been spent?

would he still dream of the thigh? of the flesh upon high?
what he saw so much of?
wouldn't he dream of the thing that he never
could quite get the touch of?

it's out of his hands, over his head
out of his reach, under this real life
hidden in veils, covered in silk
he's dreaming of what might be

out of his hands, over his head
out of his reach, under this real life
hidden in veils,
he's dreaming of mystery.

Bettie Page is still the rage
with her legs and leather;
she turns to tease the camera, and please us at home,
and we let her.

who's to know what she'll show of herself,
in what measure?
if what she reveals, or what she conceals,
is the key to our pleasure?

it's out of our hands, over our heads
out of our reach, under this real life
hidden in veils, covered in silk
we're dreaming of what might be

it's out of our hands, over our heads
out of our reach, under this real life
hidden in veils
we're dreaming of mystery.

she's a pornographer's dream, he said.
I knew what he meant.
but it made me imagine: what kind of a dream
he would have?

<lj-embed id="2" />

The Seemingly Impossible, Made Possible - Just Tell Me I Can't Do It

Inverted Florentine flogging was something I couldn't conceive of about 5 years ago. It did become a reality soon after, but I couldn't not perform this technique with any power. I dismissed it as a useless pursuit. Its pretty, but not functional. Yeah sure I could do it, but why? Just like any other skill left unused, you loose it. But I felt that I could do it still. UNTIL I tried doing it last Feb.

Now lets go on and clarify a few things before I expand this. I am not talking about a four count double figure 8, were the patterns make a 1-2-3-4 sound on impact. I'm talking about the six count where it makes a 1-2-3-(.5 second or less pause depending on how fast you are bringing your outside and inside swings around to recalibrate)4-5-6 sound on impact. Now try to do a six count with significant power and then try to do it using nothing but underhand strokes. Difficult, and difficult to do with significant power.

Back to the story, I was told that it wasn't possible, soooo that set me off. Not only did I relearn it, but I found a way to do it with moderate power. Now its just an issue of focus and control. I pride myself on being like a surgeon with floggers. But I have been concentrating on so much stuff as of late, that I have let my skills go. But they're back!

Now, I'm gonna re-visit that ever illusive 10-count technique, and the 8-count with twin double ended floggers.

Showing Mark Yu "The Night Life"

So I was wondering if a few people were interested in helping us show Mark Yu the night life/culture that OKC has to offer. I was thinking about opera, then I decided on ballet, then I decided on a cartoon marathon. All of those very worthwhile activities.

I finally settled with an oldie but a goodie, what about going to a nice old fashioned tittie bar. So if anyone is interested, please send me an email. If you have some suggestions please let me know.

When Friday 3/06/09
Where OKC
Time 9 ish

Aether

Where does it start?

Fuck the Politics, Let's Create Something

It amazes me how the subtle niceties, the civility and the politeness masks the most hostile attacks and treachery committed through protocol and politicking. The double speak, ambiguity, inferences and trying to "get" what people are saying is taxing emotionally and intellectually. We wade the sea of shit disguised as compliments and admiration in order to come close to the truth. But no one wants to get close to shit, just like no one wants to get close to bullshitters.

But yet we live among shit and bullshitters, but in truth do we have a choice. Are they parasitic, latching on like leeches to live vicariously off of you so they can say that they lived and then when they drink their fill and leave you virtually lifeless and ill, they move on to another living host.

I know I am painting a pretty dismal picture, but it is, unfortunately true, from my perspective. Avoiding shit and bullshit is just as taxing as being leeched on.

But why do either?

Why not just create by doing those things that we love. Let the people admire, criticize and judge if they want. As long as they give me the opportunity to live and love. And in reality, what does it matter in the big picture? We live and we will eventually pass away. But it is how well we have lived and loved that matters. A life lived well is worth more than just living. Its just as difficult to live with integrity, not because you want to, but because how people may understand and approve.

So fuck em...

Create something and make something beautiful. Value things on your terms but not someone else's.

This would be my advice to someone new coming into the leather community.

Yeah, so I am just now getting around to listening to it. Hell, I've been a fan of Bauhaus since 1983. I've kinda kept up with what Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, David J. and Kevin Haskins has been up to, but ya know life kinda distracts you. I'm going to listen to it a few times before I let you know what I think.

I remember watching Daniel Ash DJ at this club in Hollywood called Gold Finger every weekend, back in 1996 ish, it was a hole in the wall on Yucca and if anyone of you knows Hollywood, you know that is not one of the nicest areas and to park under a fuckin street light.

Just waiting on that new Cure CD it WAS supposed to be out in Oct according to Billboard, but they are touring!

His words or lack thereof pull me away from reality, yet in reality I know that sleep deprivation is the true cause. I'd like to think that'd I'd be swept away by such language, yet the end result would be either confusion or a false sense of understanding - the end result is the same. It is the same language that we tend to breath out, transmit emotion, the need to be understood, and context. We exhale, creating sounds, forming syllables, constructing words into thoughts and we assume what it is expelled is understood. It seems Carrol is able to convey his exact meaning with the "Jabberwocky". As listeners we seem to get caught up in the words themselves - pieces of them - not even a full breath. As speakers, we build brick walls with our words, hiding our true feelings and thoughts flinging untruths as if they were sickly sweet honey. However, when we tell the truth, there are not enough words in any vocabulary that could effectively convey what we intend. Exhaling seems to refract as opposed to reflect what it is we want to say. Do we ever listen for context, history or emotion? Do we speak understanding the weight of what we want to say knowing the its accuracy should hold the weight? Unfortunately we generally speak with white noise not understanding the consequences that are generally white hot. We call this truth, yet is it just plain 'ol gibberish spoken at hell-thirty in the morning - and we sit there as listeners - smile - and take it as the gospel and we inhale.

Lewis Carroll (1832-1898)
         from Through the Looking Glass

                     Jabberwocky

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

         "Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought–
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came wiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

 														Exhaling - Open
 														 													 														Regurgitating
Purging existential angst
Exhaling, I'm free

Tales From the Zona Roja "Exhaling Again"

No one exists
as I loose myself into her eyes
dark and smokey
They cloud my thoughts
and confuse me.
No one exists
as I loose myself into her motion
I became her bitch
and I know they would not understand.
No one exists
as I loose myself in my fantasy
That could be my reality
and this confuses me.
No one exists
as my hands wander
I begin to wonder.
I exhale deeply and she lets me.

No one exists
as I step outside of myself
I step away from every expectation
and I let go.
No one exists
as I shed this skin
Societies gift and curse
it allows me to say what I am and am not.
No one exists
as her eyes lighten up
I see something
and she let's me in.
No one exists
as she smiles
I don't return it
She's mine
Until the song is over.

and once again I exhale...

Exhaling

I often wonder when one speaks; about the history, context, emotion that carries in their voices. It bothers me that we may not be really listening, understanding and feeling the words spoken. When we exhale, is it selfishly explaining our wants and needs? When we listen, is it selfishly hearing what we want to hear and discarding those words that we don't find appealing or apply?

Sometimes when my lovers have spoken to me in the past I moved so close to them in order to inhale every breath and listened to every word selfishly. Some speaking in their native tongues that were foreign to me. Sometimes when my lovers speak, I am repulsed and yet I move closer and closer as they exhale.
